Blood Vine is the dried vine stem of Blood Vine, family Mucoraceae, which is a more commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. It is bitter and flat in taste and belongs to the large intestine meridian and liver meridian, with the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, invigorating blood, dispelling wind and relieving pain. It is used clinically for the treatment of intestinal canker sores, abdominal pain, heat poisoning sores, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, swelling and pain from falling, and rheumatic paralysis. Animal experiments have shown that the aqueous alcoholic precipitates of Dahurian vine can improve hypoxia resistance, weaken myocardial contraction, slow down heart rate, reduce cardiac output, reduce myocardial infarction and myocardial ischemia, improve myocardial lactate metabolism disorder caused by myocardial infarction, and have a direct coronary expansion effect. It has an inhibitory effect on smooth muscle of gastrointestinal tract, and also has the effect of lowering blood pressure and increasing the content of cyclic adenosine monophosphate and cyclic guanosine monophosphate in blood.
