A 2-hour postprandial blood glucose of 9.4 mmol/L may be impaired glucose tolerance. If diabetes has been diagnosed, a 2-hour postprandial blood glucose of 9.4 mmol/L is considered to have fair glycemic control. Diagnostic criteria for diabetes mellitus: diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed when fasting blood glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L, or 2-hour post glycemic load blood glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L, or random blood glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L, accompanied by symptoms of three excesses and one deficiency (excessive drinking, eating and urinating, and weight loss). Possible impaired glucose tolerance is considered when 2-hour postprandial blood glucose exceeds 7.8 mmol/L but is less than 11.1 mmol/L and fasting blood glucose is normal. If the patient has been clearly diabetic in the past, a 2-hour postprandial blood glucose of 9.4 mmol/L is considered to be in fair glycemic control, and medication should be continued. A 2-hour postprandial blood glucose of 9.4 mmol/L should be diagnosed and treated under the supervision of a physician.
