Many lesions can be misdiagnosed as lung cancer in the absence of pathology. For example, ground glass-like lesions and soft tissue masses in the lung can manifest in cases of tuberculosis, fungal infection or bacterial infection in addition to lung cancer. Whether it is tuberculosis, fungal or common bacteria or not is determined by the clinical manifestations and response to treatment. The diagnosis is mainly based on pathology, such as tuberculosis often has fever, night sweats, and wasting, while anti-tuberculosis treatment, the ground glass shadow will dissipate and absorb rapidly. In contrast, bacterial infections are often accompanied by fever, yellow sputum, coughing up blood, and so on. With anti-bacterial treatment, the shadow will also dissipate and be absorbed. Fungal infections are often associated with cavity-like lesions and decreased immunity. The main means to confirm the diagnosis is pathological puncture of glassy lesions or soft tissue nodules to confirm whether it is lung cancer or tuberculosis, fungus, bacteria, etc.
