Does having meningitis as a child have any effect on the future?

Having meningitis as a child generally has no effect on future adult life, because meningitis is an infectious disease of the central nervous system for which there are very effective antiviral and antibacterial drugs available, and as long as it is treated promptly and comprehensively, it will not have any effect on adult intelligence, limb motor function, or normal work life. In the case of mild meningitis, such as only headache and dizziness, systemic signs of infection poisoning such as fever, or lumbar puncture suggesting CNS infection, the prognosis is better and will not have any impact on future life and work. If the patient is comatose, has high fever, positive signs of meningeal irritation, or even imaging tests such as brain CT and MRI, which show brain damage, the prognosis is relatively poor and will leave different courses of sequelae.
