How long is the danger period for babies who fall on the back of the head

Young children have a poor sense of self-protection, imperfect balance, and a large proportion of the head to the body, and the incidence of head injury after a fall is relatively high, especially during the child’s toddler years, walking unsteadily and easily falling on the back of the head. Parents should not panic, never be anxious to pick up the baby from the ground, do not move too hard, so as not to cause other unnecessary injuries, but to calmly and closely observe the child’s condition, through the dangerous period. In general, if a fall on the head causes intracranial hemorrhage, fracture, or severe concussion, it will strike very quickly, at the latest within 24 hours, and symptoms will appear within 48 hours if the injury is slightly less severe. Children with traumatic bleeding in the head, confusion, poor mental status, asymmetry of limb movement, repeated vomiting, headache, blood dripping from the ear, etc. need to seek medical attention promptly and have cranial CT and other examinations to understand the site and extent of brain injury. If there is no bleeding in the head and there is a small swelling, it should be treated immediately with cold compresses. If the swelling is larger or more red, you can first emergency paste fresh potato slices, or smear some sesame oil, there are pain relief and bruising auxiliary effect. The baby should not be careless after falling on the head and should be observed for two days. During these two days, the baby should rest as much as possible and be less active. If the baby is in good spirits, moves freely and has a normal appetite within two days, you can be completely at ease. After two days no abnormalities appear, the alarm is lifted. If your child develops symptoms, go to the hospital as soon as possible.
