Introduction to neonatal traumatic brain injury

Neonatal traumatic brain injury is not uncommon, and its causes include birth injuries. Hypercranial pressure after intracranial hemorrhage in neonates is relatively uncommon, but anemia, jaundice, and depressed skull fracture can be present, as well as scalp hematomas and intracranial effusions; if left untreated, serious outcomes can occur. Neonatal craniocerebral injuries are evaluated primarily on the basis of cranial CT and trans-banel cranial ultrasound; high-technology ultrasound reduces the number of CT examinations, reduces unnecessary radiological damage to the pediatric patient, and can provide more information than CT examination.
