How a perforated stomach is caused

Gastric perforation in patients may be caused by trauma, gastric ulcer, congenital defect of the muscular layer of the gastric wall and so on.
1. Trauma: When the patient suffers from penetrating injury to the epigastrium or lower chest, swallowing sharp foreign objects or corrosive substances such as strong alkali, etc., it may lead to gastric injury, thus causing gastric perforation.
2. Gastric ulcer: Gastric ulcer refers to the imbalance of defense of gastric mucosa under the attack of high gastric acid and pepsin, which digests its own mucosa and forms a localized inflammatory defect. When the ulcer penetrates the plasma membrane layer, it may cause gastric perforation.
3. Congenital gastric wall muscular layer defect: when the developmental defect of gastric wall muscular layer and the local ischemia of gastric wall may lead to congenital gastric wall muscular layer defect, and when the patient with congenital gastric wall muscular layer defect has the situation of increased intragastric pressure, it may cause gastric perforation.
In addition, the risk of gastric perforation may increase when the patient smokes a lot of cigarettes or drinks heavily over a long period of time, eats irregularly, eats excessively, or takes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, on a regular basis.
