Blisters caused by HFMD should be managed with both allopathic and symptomatic treatment. Antiviral medications are given as symptomatic treatment, while topical medications are applied to the blisters and skin care is provided.
Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is a category C infectious disease caused by enteroviruses and is most common in infants and children. The main symptoms are sporadic rash and herpes on the hands, feet, mouth and other parts of the body.
1. Treatment: commonly used drugs include ribavirin, interferon alpha and so on. However, they should be applied within 24~48 hours after the onset of the disease, which has certain therapeutic effect, such as the application of antiviral drugs is not recommended in the late stage of the disease.
2. Symptomatic treatment: mainly the use of some drugs or external rubbing.
For the blisters of hand, foot and mouth disease, the hands and feet can be coated with 0.5% povidone-iodine. When the blister ruptures, erythromycin ointment can be used externally to prevent infection. The blisters in the mouth can be gargled with isacridine solution. Daily attention to good skin and mucous membrane care, keep the skin and mouth clean, eat a light diet.
Suffering from hand, foot and mouth disease is recommended to go to the hospital in time, follow the doctor’s instructions to give medication, and strengthen the care.
