What are the obvious symptoms of a blocked artery in the neck?

The carotid artery is a very important artery that connects the heart to the head and face, and is one of the main blood vessels supplying the brain. Carotid artery stenosis, for example, is a very common disease, especially in the middle-aged population. Carotid artery stenosis is mostly due to atherosclerosis, blood lipid deposits that attach to the inner wall of blood vessels, causing the carotid artery intima to thicken, which accumulates over time, resulting in the formation of plaque and causing blockage of the carotid artery vessels. So what are the obvious symptoms that will appear in the body when the carotid artery blood vessels are blocked? Blockage of carotid artery vessels will inevitably cause poor blood flow and form a series of symptoms of ischemia. Specific manifestations may include symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, blackness, blurred vision, dizziness, headache, insomnia, memory loss, drowsiness, dreaminess, limb weakness, etc. In the case of external carotid artery stenosis, it may lead to eye ischemia, which may manifest as vision loss, hemianopia, diplopia, etc. It may also lead to TIA attack, acute cerebral infarction, etc., and severe cerebral infarction may be disabling or even fatal. Therefore, patients suffering from carotid artery stenosis must receive treatment as soon as possible. For carotid artery stenosis, mild cases can be treated conservatively with strict medication and regular complications; while more severe cases need to be treated with surgery as soon as possible. At present, the more effective surgical treatment for more severe carotid stenosis is carotid endarterectomy, which is the standard surgical procedure recognized by the international medical community to completely remove carotid atherosclerotic plaque, reconstruct normal lumen and blood flow, and eliminate this risk factor triggering cerebral infarction.
