What is vasomotor rhinitis?

Vasomotor rhinitis is usually a hyper-reactive rhinopathy caused by an imbalance in the neuroendocrine regulation of the nasal mucosal vessels and adenoids.

Vasomotor rhinitis usually occurs in young adults and rarely in children. Vasomotor rhinitis is usually due to autonomic dysfunction and endocrine disorders.

There are three types of vasomotor rhinitis: physical rhinitis, which is usually caused by exposure to cold air and other irritants; psychogenic rhinitis, which is usually caused by fear or frustration in the nasal area; and idiosyncratic rhinitis, which is caused by endocrine dysfunction and results in edema of the nasal membranes and nasal polyps.

For vasomotor rhinitis, treatment is usually carried out with medications, commonly known as nasal decongestants, antihistamines, and anticholinergics. It can also be corrected by surgical treatment, which commonly includes correction of anatomical deformities and removal of non-invertible tissue.

If the organism has vasomotor rhinitis, it should also be noted that there may be some internal problems in the organism. It is recommended to identify the cause and treat it in a timely manner.
