There are two types of tests to be done for suspected leukemia: first, routine blood tests, which can reveal whether the number of white blood cells in the patient’s peripheral blood is abnormal, whether the patient is anemic, and whether the number of platelets is abnormal, as well as whether there are infantile cells in the peripheral blood. Secondly, bone marrow aspiration examination, through bone marrow aspiration examination, can understand the proportion of leukemia cells in the patient’s bone marrow cells, through bone marrow aspiration examination can also do cell morphology, immunology, molecular biology and cytogenetic examination. Immunological tests can determine what type of leukemia cells are in the patient’s bone marrow; cytogenetic tests can reveal whether the patient has chromosomal abnormalities; and molecular biology tests can reveal whether the patient has other abnormal fusion genes. Therefore, through routine blood tests and through bone marrow aspiration, a clear diagnosis of leukemia can be made.
