How many years can you live with 2+ urine protein?

Usually more urine protein means more serious disease in the kidney. However, urine protein 2+ does not represent the amount of total urine protein and usually requires a 24-hour urine protein quantification to determine. Therefore, the question of how many years you can live with urine protein 2+ is a false proposition. Patients should firstly do urine protein quantification and secondly speculate the possible rate of progression of kidney disease based on the specific etiology, treatment and individual factors related to the patient. Therefore, patients with urine protein 2+ should be analyzed for specific problems and not be generalized.
