Sunitinib, a novel tyrosine kinase receptor inhibitor, controls disease progression in advanced renal cell carcinoma through a dual effect of tumor growth inhibition and angiogenesis [1]. In phase II and III clinical studies, sunitinib showed good clinical efficacy in metastatic renal cancer, with a median overall survival (mOS) of 26.4 months [2-3], and its application in the Chinese population also achieved good clinical benefit. 62 patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma were treated with sunitinib in our hospital from July 2008 to November 2011, and good clinical results were achieved. The clinical results were good. In conclusion, sunitinib achieved good clinical efficacy and was well tolerated in the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma in China. Adverse drug reactions were tolerated by dose adjustment and scientific and reasonable treatment, and the incidence of serious adverse reactions was low. Predictors of efficacy related to molecular targeted therapy need to be confirmed in further prospective clinical studies with large samples.
