Why do I keep losing weight after receiving targeted therapy for advanced kidney cancer?

In the clinic, we often meet patients who are receiving targeted therapy and ask: Doctor, why am I not gaining flesh, and my weight is more than ten pounds lighter than before taking the medicine? Firstly, it is because the tumor has been consuming the body in the body, and the tumor cells have stolen part of the nutrition from the body. Secondly, after targeted therapy, some patients will have the side effect of diarrhea, which affects the nutrient absorption of food. What’s more, it is very important that because of having tumor, patients will listen to the propaganda of their family members or other patients to restrict their diet and abstain from eating many foods. In fact, it is very unnecessary to abstain from eating because there is no evidence that chicken, eggs, beef and mutton, seafood and so on are hairy substances and eating them will lead to tumor recurrence. Therefore, our suggestion is that if you have diarrhea, you should actively treat diarrhea. In the case of no diarrhea, you should try to eat more nutritious food, including chicken, eggs, fish, shrimp, beef, etc. Any nutritious food should be eaten. Of course, patients with poor kidney function should control the protein intake, but not not not to eat, but to eat in moderation. At the same time, the usual exercise is also very beneficial, can improve the overall metabolic situation of people, promote digestion, improve the quality of sleep. Do all of these, basically it is not easy to lose weight.
