The rabies vaccine is usually administered by either a 5-dose injection or a 4-dose injection. Normally, the antibody concentration can be maintained for one year after the 5-dose injection, and a booster injection is not required after one year. Rabies vaccination is the best measure to prevent the occurrence of rabies, rabies vaccine is usually used 5 shots or 4 shots. 5 shots are given on the day of the bite, the 3rd day, the 7th day, the 14th day and the 30th day. Antibodies higher than 0.5 U/mL in the body will serve to keep the virus from infecting you. After more than one year of rabies vaccination, it is not necessary to re-inject rabies vaccine, but only need to take a booster shot, after the booster shot, the human antibody can quickly rise to 20 U/mL. antibody concentration will slowly decline again, still able to protect for 3 years. If a person is bitten by a dog after 3 years, a second booster shot is needed. After the 3 booster shots, the rabies antibody concentration reaches a higher peak and lasts for 3 months. Within 24 hours after being bitten by a dog, the patient should go to a regular hospital or epidemic prevention station for rabies vaccination.
