A number of common clinical conditions can cause excessive dreaming, such as sleep disorders, neurasthenia, heart disease, kidney disease, asthma, gastrointestinal disorders, bone and joint disease, hypertension and sleep apnoea syndrome, which can be treated for the primary cause. It can also be improved by lifestyle adjustments such as foot soaks and massages before bedtime. Some patients with excessive dreaming and waking up easily, distracted by insomnia, can have a light diet and stay away from stimulating foods.
