Staged surgery for severe hypospadias

Objective:To observe the efficacy and complications of predictable staged surgery for severe hypospadias. Methods
:(March 2012 to March 2014) Fifty-one children were treated with stage I penile straightening and dorsal foreskin reconstruction of the urethral plate, and all children in this group had urethral defects of more than 4 cm; urethroplasty (Thiersch-Duplay) was performed 6 months-1 year later. Results: All the stage I operations were successful, 45 cases were cured by stage II operations, 4 cases of postoperative urethral fistula, 1 case of external urethral fissure and 1 case of external urethral stricture. At the follow-up of 6 months-1 year, the appearance was significantly improved compared with the stage I surgery, and urination was unobstructed. Conclusion: There is a consensus on individualized treatment of hypospadias, and staged surgery for severe hypospadias is relatively simple, with high success rate and good appearance. Surgery should be evaluated according to the characteristics of children and using adult criteria.
