The Glasgow Coma Rating Scale is used to assess the degree of a patient’s impaired consciousness and is easy to administer in a clinical setting. The scale is modified to assess 3 aspects: motor function of the limbs, verbal response, and eye opening response. The higher the score, the better the level of consciousness; on the contrary, if the score is lower, the deeper the degree of impaired consciousness, the more serious the condition is, and the prognosis is not good. A maximum score of 15 indicates clear consciousness. 12-14 classes are considered mildly impaired consciousness. 9-11 classes are considered moderately impaired consciousness, and scores below 8 are considered coma.
