What do I need to do to prepare for a visit to a spine surgery specialist?

In their daily work, many patients are not familiar with the basic process of seeing a doctor, often without any imaging data (X-ray, CT, MRI or related blood test list, etc.) on the registration of specialist clinics, due to our orthopedic patients more, after queuing to register, see a doctor, after the doctor’s examination and issued a checklist often to the afternoon, and which MRI and certain blood tests to make an appointment, the time is longer! Since most doctors have half-day clinics, so busy all day may not get the doctor’s diagnosis —- often come loaded with hope, a stomach full of grievances and return! In fact, before seeing a spine specialist clinic, the following points should be clear: 1, first through the general outpatient clinic to do some of the necessary tests, at least lumbar spine X-rays, if the pain is on the lower side, to have a pelvic X-ray — this is the most basic examination to see the spinal disease, or even a step that can not be crossed! 2. If the general outpatient clinic or previously diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation, at least a recent CT, and an MRI would be even better. 3, if the general outpatient clinic suspected of soft tissue diseases, such as lumbar strain, rheumatic diseases, ankylosing spondylitis, etc., to have rheumatoid series, blood sedimentation, HLA —-B27 and other tests, some of which are now checking the results to wait for 4 or 5 days, HLA —-B27 (ankylosing spondylitis-related tests) to wait for 2 weeks, which is particularly inconvenient for patients in the field. 4. For patients suspected of tumor, it is better to have X-ray, 3D CT, MRI (or enhanced MRI) of the lesion site, and if malignancy is suspected, CT of the chest and ultrasound of the abdomen to exclude lung and liver lesions, and ECT (radionuclide bone scan) to clarify the systemic metastasis. 5.If cervical spondylosis is suspected in the general outpatient clinic, at least CT and finally MRI of cervical spine are required. 6. Patients who have a follow-up consultation must also bring their preoperative examination for comparison. 7. For patients with off-site consultation, the information must be complete: X-ray, CT, MRI or relevant blood test sheets, and include the description of medical history from the local hospital. Only if you prepare the information well, you can get twice the result with half the effort and return satisfied!
