Abrasion facelift, also known as dermabrasion, is a cosmetic procedure that uses an abrasive head to remove the epidermal and dermal papillary layers of the lesioned area to improve the appearance. This method is effective in treating small post-acne scars, large freckles, small pockmarks after smallpox or chickenpox, rosacea, milia, sebaceous nevus, lighter tattoos and skin pigmentation dust, sweat duct tumors and other cosmetically disfiguring skin conditions. It is most effective for small post-acne scars, smallpox pockmarks and freckles in fair-skinned people. For shallow acne scars and freckles, a single treatment can achieve more satisfactory results; however, for smallpox, chicken pox scars and deeper acne scars, 2-3 treatments are needed to achieve better results. It is unrealistic for some people to ask for one time grinding, because the depth of skin grinding is limited each time, generally not more than 0.5-0.7 mm, otherwise the grinding is too deep to damage the dermis layer, which will still leave scars after healing. There are various instruments for skin grinding, and we use a special mechanical grinding machine with different types of steel grinding wheels. These machines are less laborious to use and can grind the skin lesions to a considerable depth. This type of grinding is a delicate and precise skin procedure. While the grinding wheel is flying around, just like a milling machine turning and milling metal parts, the assistant needs to use a syringe oil to take saline to spray drops to the ground area to prevent cell damage due to local skin heating. If foreign objects such as iron filings and cinders are left in the skin as a result of an explosion injury, they should also be carefully picked out with a needle. Aesthetic abrasion is performed to both grind away old skin lesions and to protect good skin. It is important that the depth of grinding should be taken into account. Too shallow cannot remove the lesions and pigments and fail to achieve the treatment purpose, while too deep will damage the dermis and scars will still appear in the future. Therefore, it is important to make the skin smooth and beautiful through grinding. Since dermabrasion generally only removes the epidermis, just like normal skin abrasions, there will be no scars after healing; however, if there is an infection or if the grinding is too deep and damages the dermis, scars of varying degrees will be left behind, which will affect the results after grinding. Therefore, this procedure must be performed by an experienced surgeon.
