What is wrong with swollen feet with pits when pressed?

There are two types of oedema: indurated oedema and non-indurated oedema, and indurated oedema is caused by pits in the skin and muscle tissue of the feet when pressed with the finger. Indurated oedema is often generalised. It is caused by the accumulation of excess fluid in the interstitial spaces of the tissues of the foot due to greater production than recovery of interstitial fluid. Cardiogenic oedema due to right heart failure is mostly indurated oedema.
