When should I have surgery for cryptorchidism?

According to the American Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 6th edition, page 1198, more in-depth studies have shown that testicular mesenchymal cell damage in patients with cryptorchidism begins between 2 and 6 months of life, when the testicular supporting cells and germ cells are still behaving normally. From June onwards, the lesion gradually worsens, and by the age of 2 years, nearly 40% of patients with cryptorchidism have lost their germ cells. Therefore, patients should be treated surgically at 6 months of age (we do not recommend hormonal treatment due to its uncertainty and possible side effects). The surgery can be a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure with minimal trauma, minimal scarring and fast recovery!
