How to make up for low amniotic fluid

If the amount of amniotic fluid is too low, the fastest way to make up for it is by amniotic fluid infusion, which should be done according to the doctor’s instructions. If the amount of amniotic fluid is less than 300 milliliters in the second trimester, this is called oligohydramnios. The perinatal morbidity and mortality rate is significantly higher in cases of low amniotic fluid. If the amniotic fluid is low in the early stages of pregnancy, it may cause adhesions between the fetal membranes and the fetus, leading to structural abnormalities in the fetus. If the amniotic fluid is too low in the middle and late stages of pregnancy, it may cause fetal growth restriction and musculoskeletal deformities. If a woman discovers that her amniotic fluid is too low during pregnancy, she needs to first undergo a detector test to determine whether the fetus has any structural abnormalities of the urinary system, chromosomal abnormalities, etc. If this is the case, the pregnancy needs to be terminated. If the amount of amniotic fluid is too low and it is determined that the fetus does not have abnormalities, in order to replenish the amniotic fluid within a short period of time, the method of amniotic perfusion can be adopted, which is to intermittently inject an appropriate amount of 0.9% sodium chloride injection into the amniotic cavity. However, there are certain risks associated with this operation, such as the possibility of chorioamnionitis, etc., and it should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
