In the golden autumn of 2013 in Beijing, Xuanwu Neurosurgery Department of Capital Medical University hosted for the first time the “1st International Master Workshop on Pediatric Neurosurgery in China”. This meeting was initiated by Professor Ling Feng and two internationally renowned pediatric neurosurgery professors, Maurice Choux (France) and Concezio Di Rocco (Italy), to promote the development of pediatric neurosurgery in China. The two international masters gave face-to-face lectures and surgical demonstrations to Chinese pediatric neurosurgeons. The theme of the conference was “Hydrocephalus in Children” and “Posterior Cranial Fossa Tumors in Children”, and four live surgical demonstrations and a series of lectures were given during the 4.5 day course from October 19-23. During the conference, about 40 participants from all over China had in-depth discussions with the two professors through live simultaneous interpretation, which was well received by foreign experts and domestic colleagues. The success of this conference played a positive role in promoting the development of pediatric neurosurgery in China.
