Prognosis of glioblastoma resection by craniotomy alone

The patient, a 56-year-old female, was admitted to the hospital with 1 month of slurred speech. The cranial MRI showed a left frontal speech center occupancy. The lesion was removed by craniotomy and pathologically confirmed as glioblastoma. No postoperative radiotherapy or chemotherapy was administered. The tumor recurred and died 7 months after surgery. The images show the preoperative and postoperative comparisons. The ring-enhanced high-signal (white) lesion shown by the red arrow before surgery is the tumor. Postoperatively, the green arrow shows the operative cavity after total tumor resection, and the tumor disappeared.
