Chronic bronchitis with symptoms such as coughing, sputum or shortness of breath that persist for 3 months per year for more than 2 years is called chronic bronchitis. The disease occurs mostly in the middle-aged age group, with a slow course and mostly insidious onset, initially in the cold season. The cough and sputum are most obvious especially in the early morning, and the sputum is white mucus foamy, sticky and not easy to be excreted, and after infection or cold, the symptoms are rapidly aggravated, the sputum volume increases, the viscosity increases or is yellow purulent. Sometimes the coughing sputum may contain blood, and with the development of the disease, the coughing and coughing sputum will be present throughout the year, but it will be more acute in autumn and winter. In the early stage of the disease, there are no special signs, and most of them can hear wet and dry rales at the bottom of the lungs, which sometimes disappear after coughing or coughing up sputum. According to TCM, the occurrence and development of this disease is related to the dysfunction of the three organs of the lungs, spleen and kidneys as well as the invasion of external evil such as wind, cold, heat and dryness. The external evil enters through the skin, mouth and nose, and the lung qi is closed and obstructed, resulting in coughing and wheezing. The symptoms are mainly coughing. In cases of deficiency of both lungs and spleen, coughing and wheezing are aggravated by spontaneous sweating and shortness of breath when exposed to wind and cold. In case of deficiency of both spleen and kidney, coughing and wheezing will be prolonged, with more breathing and less inhalation, and coldness in the limbs. In addition, there are several points worth noting in life and diet: 1, the elderly should pay special attention to the prevention of colds in the season of climate change, and seek timely medical attention after a cold. 2, usually should eat less or avoid eating cold, too salty, spicy, greasy and tobacco, wine and other irritating things to reduce or avoid the stimulation of the respiratory tract; eat more cough, asthma, expectorant, warm lung, spleen food, such as white fruit, loquat, chestnuts, lily, seaweed, nori, etc. to enhance immunity. 3, live in the room should often open the windows, keep the air circulation, bed sheets, bedding, clothing should be diligently changed and cleaned to reduce allergens. 4, appropriate physical exercise to improve the function of the respiratory system, enhance the resistance to cold and disease.
