Do you know some ideas that are closely related to snoring? Snoring: It is the sound produced by the vibration caused by the impact on the edge of the pharyngeal mucosa when the airflow of the upper respiratory tract passes during sleep; its part starts from the nasopharynx to the epiglottis, including the soft palate, the uvula, the tonsils and its palatopharyngeal arch and palatoglossal arch, the root of the tongue, the pharyngeal muscle and the pharyngeal mucosa, and snoring with a loudness below 60dB is often a normal phenomenon. Snoring: If the loudness of snoring exceeds 60dB, which prevents the airflow of the upper respiratory tract from passing through and affects the rest of the roommates or causes annoyance to others, it is called snoring. The lighter snoring (simple type) does not cause obvious hypoxic symptoms; the heavier snoring (breath-holding type) can be more than 80 decibels, and can be accompanied by different degrees of hypoxic symptoms, which is actually synonymous with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. Apnea: It means that the airflow between the mouth and nose stops for at least ten seconds. Hypoventilation: It means that the airflow is reduced by more than 50% of the normal airflow strength, and there is a 4% decrease in oxygen saturation. Sleep apnea: is defined as an episode of apnea of more than 10 seconds per episode and more than 30 episodes of apnea during 7 hours of sleep per night. Sleep Disordered Breathing Index: is defined as an average of more than 5 episodes of sleep apnea + hypoventilation per hour.
