Beware of arterial embolism in the limbs during winter

The so-called arterial embolism is generally an acute attack of thrombus or atheromatous plaque and other emboli coming off from the heart or arterial wall flowing with the blood to the distal artery, stuck in the artery of smaller caliber than the embolus and blocking the lumen, and ischemia and necrosis of limbs, organs and tissues occur in a short time, which eventually endangers life. Winter temperature gradually decreases, human metabolism slows down, the body of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular patients is stimulated by cold air, sudden vasoconstriction, which easily leads to vascular blockage, interruption of blood flow supply, obstruction of blood circulation, so that the toxic substances in the blood vessels are not easily discharged, thus inducing the onset of arterial embolism. Especially in winter, it is the peak period of arterial embolism in a year, because the first cold, so that the blood viscosity is too late to self-regulate, the blood will slow down in the rough, small arteries, easy to form a small thrombus, resulting in limb artery embolism, cerebrovascular blockage or myocardial infarction. Given the serious consequences of arterial embolism, effective prevention is essential and, in fact, feasible. In patients with potential risk factors or who have already experienced arterial embolism, long-term or even lifelong oral aspirin 75-100 mg/day antithrombotic is recommended, if not contraindicated. At the same time, poor lifestyles such as high fat, high calorie, low fiber, insufficient exercise, and addiction to alcohol and tobacco should be changed. The prevention of arterial embolism in winter can be summarized into four cornerstones: reasonable diet, proper exercise, smoking and alcohol cessation, and psychological balance. Specific attention should be paid to the following aspects: 1, pay attention to warmth: blood vessels, especially coronary arteries, are prone to contraction and spasm in winter when it is cold, resulting in insufficient blood supply, and may lead to embolism, so pay close attention to warmth. 2, the patient should not be morning exercise: because when sleeping, the human body’s nervous system is in a state of inhibition, low vitality, suddenly and drastically exercise in the morning, the sudden increase in neural excitability, very easy to induce arterial embolism, winter should pay attention to this problem. 3, tonic to moderate: China’s folk have the habit of winter tonic, winter people exercise is less, coupled with a large number of tonic hot food and tonic wine, it is easy to cause high blood lipids, inducing arterial embolism, so winter tonic must be carried out according to the individual physique. 4, balance of mind: emotional excitement is a major taboo of vascular disease, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia patients in particular should be relaxed, do not let the emotional ups and downs too much. 5, appropriate exercise: reduced exercise can also cause slow blood flow and elevated blood lipids, so it is necessary to reasonably arrange exercise time and control the amount of exercise. In winter, we should wait for the sun to rise before exercising. At this time, the temperature rises again, which can avoid the sudden cold stimulation of the organism and the onset of disease.
