The diagnosis of acute appendicitis is based on symptoms, signs, and ancillary tests: 1. Symptoms. Patients first have vague pain in the upper abdomen or around the umbilicus, which shifts to right lower abdominal pain within 24 hours, while the pain in the upper abdomen or around the umbilicus is relieved.2. Signs. The main manifestation is obvious pressure pain at the right lower abdomen at the point of McDonald’s, sometimes with rebound pain, and usually a positive colonic inflation test.3. Auxiliary examinations of acute appendicitis, routine blood tests often have elevated leukocytes and neutrophils, and ultrasound and CT examinations can show a swollen, striated appendix.
