The arteries of the upper extremities are the axillary, brachial, radial, ulnar, and median arteries. The axillary artery is a continuation of the subclavian artery, the brachial artery is a continuation of the axillary artery, and the radial and ulnar arteries are a continuation of the brachial artery. 1. The axillary artery continues the subclavian artery at the lateral edge of the first rib, moves to the brachial artery at the lower edge of the greater trochanter, and is divided into three segments marked by the pectoralis minor muscle. (1) The first segment: located between the lateral edge of the first rib and the upper edge of the pectoralis minor muscle, this segment divides into the superior thoracic artery. (2) The second segment: located behind the pectoralis minor muscle, this segment gives off two branches of the thoracic acromial and lateral thoracic arteries. (3) Third segment: This segment gives off three branches, namely, the subscapularis artery, the posterior rotator cuff artery, and the anterior rotator cuff artery. 2. The brachial artery is continued to the axillary artery at the inferior border of the greater trochanter, and its branches are the deep brachial artery, the superior ulnar collateral artery, and the inferior ulnar collateral artery. 3. The radial artery is continued to the brachial artery at the height of the flat radial neck, and its proximal end divides into the radial reentry artery, which sends out a superficial palmar branch in the anterior carpal region and participates in the formation of the superficial palmar arch. 4. The ulnar artery joins the brachial artery at the height of the flat radial neck and gives off the common interosseous artery at its origin, which divides into the anterior interosseous artery, the posterior interosseous artery, and the deep palmar artery. The ulnar artery sends out a deep palmar branch in the anterior carpal region, which participates in the formation of the deep palmar arch. 5. The median artery originates from the anterior interosseous artery. If there is any disease related to the arteries of the upper limbs, timely consultation should be made.
