Red vine is the dried vine stem of the plant “Da Blood Vine” in the family of Moutonaceae. It is bitter in flavor and flat in nature. It belongs to the large intestine and liver meridian. It has the effects of clearing heat and removing toxins, activating blood circulation and dispersing blood stasis, dispelling wind and relieving pain. It is used in the treatment of intestinal carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the intestinal organs, manifested by fever, pain in the right abdomen, and palpable lumps), abdominal pain, bruises, menstrual dysmenorrhea, rheumatic paralysis (which can be corresponded to rheumatic arthralgia in western medicine), etc. It is used in the treatment of intestinal carbuncle.
