Abnormal manifestations of laryngeal cancer and dietary principles

  The incidence of laryngeal cancer accounts for about 1.3% of systemic malignant tumors in men and 0.3% in women, with a trend of increase in recent years. The incidence rate of laryngeal cancer varies greatly in terms of gender, and it is more common in men, with the ratio of men to women being 8:1. The age of laryngeal cancer is most common between 50 and 70 years old, and the peak incidence age is 65-69 years old for men and 55-59 years old for women.  1. Dumbness of voice is the most common and the first symptom of laryngeal cancer of the vocal cord type. The continued aggravation of hoarseness indicates that the lesion has invaded the vocal cords.  Foreign body sensation in the throat or swallowing discomfort is the first symptom of supraglottic laryngeal cancer, but it is often ignored and delayed. However, it is often overlooked and delayed. The medical history can take up to several months.  3. Pain in the larynx usually appears only when the tumor infiltrates to a considerable extent or ulcers occur on the surface of the tumor, which can cause reflex pain of the vagus nerve, manifesting as ipsilateral facial pain and ear pain, mainly in the supraglottic type.  Dyspnea is the first symptom, characterized by inspiratory dyspnea, which worsens progressively.  5. Difficulty in swallowing is a symptom that may appear in the final stage of laryngeal cancer, mainly in the supraglottis type, where the tumor has developed outside the larynx and invaded the root of the tongue, the pyriform fossa, the posterior cricoid region or the entrance of the esophagus, making it difficult to eat.  6.Cough and slight blood are irritating choking cough and blood in sputum.  7.Neck mass When laryngeal cancer has cervical lymph node metastasis, neck mass may appear. Most of these masses are fast-growing, painless, with non-red skin and hard texture, and move well at first, but become less mobile or even fixed at the end of the day. Most of the masses are located in the upper part of the neck, in the carotid triangle.  Dietary principles: 1. If conditions permit, it is best to use more plantain leaves, marjoram, almonds, loofah, eggplant, etc., which have anti-laryngopharyngeal malignant tumor effects.  2, the diet should be light, preferably with anti-infection, anti-ulcer effect of food, such as Luo Han Guo, water chestnut, honey, pig skin, mud snail, spinach, bitter gourd, etc..  3, symptomatic use of the following foods: ① hoarseness: radish, pear, white fruit, coix seeds, plum. ② swallowing difficulties: almond, peach kernel, lily, etc. ③ hemoptysis: lotus root powder, enoki mushroom, etc.  4, diet should be rich in nutrients, easy to digest, especially to provide sufficient protein and vitamins.  5, dietary contraindications: prohibit smoking, alcohol, cautiously eat spicy and irritating food. In case of co-infection, hot foods such as dog meat and mutton are prohibited.
