What are the symptoms of late stage lung cancer?

When lung cancer compresses or infiltrates adjacent organs or tissues or distant metastasis occurs in advanced stage, it can produce the following symptoms: 1. compression or invasion of phrenic nerve can cause ipsilateral diaphragm paralysis, chest tightness and shortness of breath. 2. compression or invasion of laryngeal nerve can cause vocal cord paralysis and hoarseness. 3. compression of superior vena cava can cause angry veins in face, neck and upper limbs. 4. invasion of pleura can cause pleural pleural effusion and large amount of pleural effusion can cause shortness of breath. Large amount of pleural effusion can lead to shortness of breath. If the cancer invades the pleura and chest wall, it can cause continuous severe chest pain.5. Cancer invading the mediastinum can compress the esophagus and cause difficulty in swallowing.6. Tumor in the pleural roof invading the organs and tissues in the upper thoracic opening can cause severe shoulder pain, upper limb venous anger, edema and upper limb movement disorder. Late stage lung cancer can show symptoms such as cachexia, severe malnutrition, anemia and extreme emaciation.
