Mingmu Shangqing Pill is effective in brightening eyes, relieving pain and clearing heat and dispersing wind, and is mainly used in the treatment of outbreaks of fire eyes. Mingmu Shangqing Pills is composed of Radix Panax Ginseng, Ophiopogonis, Rhizoma Thunbergii, Cicada Morphae, Tribulus Terrestris, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Plantago Ovatae, Gardenia Jasminoides, Chrysanthemums, Scutellaria Baicalensis, Rhizoma Coptidis, and Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, and is mainly used for the treatment of outbreaks of fiery eyes (i.e., contagious conjunctivitis, also known as red eyes). The adverse effects of Mingmu Shangqing Pill are not known. However, it is contraindicated for pregnant women, the elderly and infirm, and cataract patients; for patients with serious chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and heart disease, it should be taken under the supervision of a doctor; and it is contraindicated for people with allergies.
