What is the diameter of the normal appendix

The appendix is a normal anatomical organ of the human body and is usually located in the right iliac fossa of the lower right abdomen. Statistics show that the length of appendix in normal human is usually around 2-20cm and the diameter of appendix is around 6-7mm. Due to the limitation of existing medical equipment, existing medical equipment such as ultrasound and CT, to do imaging examination, if the diameter of tissue or organ is less than 1cm, it cannot be distinguished on ultrasound or CT examination. Only when the appendix is acutely inflamed, the appendix is swollen and thickened, and the diameter is more than 1cm, can a B-ultrasound or CT examination have a clear positive finding, suggesting that the diameter of the appendix exceeds the normal diameter, and only then can the diagnosis of acute appendicitis be made.
