Clinical application of hysteroscopic management of menopausal labyrinthine intrauterine device Abstract Objective To investigate the value of hysteroscopy in the application of menopausal labyrinthine intrauterine device. Methods Retrospective analysis of 68 cases of menopausal lost IUDs admitted to our hospital between 1998.1 and 2007.12, which were removed by hysteroscopy. Results All 68 cases were successfully removed abnormal or ectopic IUDs, among which 67 cases of normal, deformed, broken, embedded, or residual IUDs in the uterine cavity were surgically removed under hysteroscopy, and one case of ectopic pelvic abdominal IUD was removed under laparoscopy without surgical complications. Conclusion Hysteroscopically guided removal of menopausal labyrinthine IUDs has a clear diagnosis, high success rate and minimal trauma. Laparoscopic removal is recommended for ectopic pelvic abdominal IUDs.
