When patients develop arterial plaque, the condition can be improved through general treatment, drug treatment and surgery according to the patient’s condition.
1. General treatment: For patients with simple arterial plaque who have mild symptoms and have not caused lumen narrowing, they should pay attention to adjusting their life style. Take a light, low-salt and low-fat diet, avoid high cholesterol foods, quit smoking and drinking, and exercise appropriately, as well as monitoring the condition and regular checkups.
2. Medication: For patients with large arterial plaques and slight lumen narrowing, anti-platelet drugs such as aspirin, lipid-lowering drugs such as simvastatin, and thrombolytic drugs such as alteplase can be taken orally under the guidance of a doctor to improve symptoms.
3. Surgery: For patients with large plaques or moderate-to-severe luminal blockage, they should consult a doctor in time for detailed examination to clarify the location and length of the luminal narrowing, and then be treated by plaque endothelial debridement or interventional stenting in order to improve the symptoms.
It is recommended that patients strictly follow the doctor’s prescription of medication, actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment, pay attention to monitoring the condition in life, regular review and so on.
