Evaluation of the efficacy of interferon in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B

Better outcome is often achieved with the following factors high pretreatment ALT levels; HBV-DNA <2×108 copies/ml (<4.0×107 IU/ml); female; short duration of disease; non-maternal-to-child transmission; heavy inflammatory necrosis of liver tissue and mild fibrosis; good compliance with treatment by Zhao Wenxia of the Department of Splenic, Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary Diseases, The First Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine; no HCV, HDV or HIV co-infection; HBV genotyping type A; undetectable serum HBV-DNA at 12 or 24 weeks of treatment; where pre-treatment ALT, HBV-DNA levels and genotype are important predictors of efficacy; some studies have shown that quantitative detection of HBsAg or HBeAg levels during IFNa-2a treatment has a good predictive value for treatment response.
