Lung cancer may cause pain in the back of the chest, but pain in the lung area of the back may not necessarily be caused by lung cancer, but by other diseases, such as myofasciitis of the back, which is usually caused by the inflammation of the fascia caused by the strain of the muscles in the back of the shoulders, people who often lift things or do physical exercise. It is also possible that some small joints of the thoracic spine are misaligned and compress the nerve roots in the back, resulting in pain in the lung area of the back.
