Patients with gallstones causing pain in the abdomen can use 654-2 to relieve the pain. 654-2 is relatively simple to administer, either intramuscularly or as an intravenous infusion in water. It usually works within about 10 minutes after the drug is administered, and the patient’s biliary colic symptoms are relieved. Since 654-2 may cause some adverse reactions such as difficulty in urination, mebendazole is now more commonly used and safer in clinical practice. If necessary, tramadol or dulcolax can also be used.
