What are the symptoms of costochondritis and how to medicate it

Costochondritis is generally divided into two types, namely, chronic aseptic costochondritis and infectious costochondritis, and the symptoms are mainly localized pressure and swelling, or localized redness, swelling, heat, and pain, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever and headache. Medications are mainly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, hormones, or sensitive antibiotics. 1. Chronic aseptic costochondritis: it is mainly caused by rib injury or muscle pressure and exertion in the rib area, with local symptoms such as pressure pain and swelling. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib capsules and meloxicam tablets can be used to accelerate the absorption of local inflammation, and steroid hormones such as prednisolone can be given if necessary. 2. Infectious costochondritis: it is mainly caused by the infection of muscle tissue in the rib area or the infection in the chest cavity, and it can have the symptoms of redness, swelling, heat and pain locally, which can be accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever and headache. The main medication is sensitive antibiotics such as cefadroxil, etc. If there is pain and fever, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib capsules and indomethacin suppositories can also be given to relieve pain and reduce fever. Patients with costochondritis are advised to go to the hospital for further counseling and treatment.
