How many days you can be discharged from the hospital after a normal delivery depends on the mother’s postpartum recovery and the baby’s condition. Generally, the mother is hospitalized for 1-2 days after delivery for observation and can be discharged if there are no special problems. After delivery, the mother’s uterine contractions, vaginal bleeding and urination should be observed to avoid hemorrhage and urinary retention within 24 hours after delivery. If there is a side incision, the healing of the side incision, breastfeeding, the baby’s umbilical cord and breastfeeding should also be observed, as well as checking the mother’s lactation and the healing of the perineal area. If there are no special circumstances, you can start to get out of bed on the 2nd day. After a normal delivery, most cases can be discharged after 1-2 days of observation. However, if there are cases of retained placenta or vaginal bleeding, you need to stay in the hospital for a few more days for observation. On the 42nd day after delivery, it is recommended to follow up with ultrasound and blood, urine routine and pelvic floor examination in the hospital.
