How should I choose a treatment for prostate cancer?

There are many kinds of treatment methods for prostate cancer, but only by choosing different treatment methods for the individual patient’s situation can we achieve satisfactory treatment results, otherwise we may not only fail to achieve satisfactory treatment results, but also delay the timing of treatment. For early stage prostate cancer, as long as the patient’s body can bear the surgery, the prostate cancer can be cured through radical surgery, and the 10-year survival rate after surgery is as high as 90%; above. If the patient is unable to tolerate surgery, or if the patient is unwilling to undergo surgery, radiation therapy can be an option, which can also achieve good results. For advanced prostate cancer, although there is no medical means of a complete cure, this does not mean that we are completely helpless against advanced prostate cancer. The first of these is to remove the androgens from the prostate, which is what won the Nobel Prize in medicine in 1941. Currently, advanced prostate cancer is often treated clinically by blocking the activity of androgens in the body. However, androgen removal therapy does not completely cure prostate cancer. Prostate cancer will fade like a flower that has lost its nutrients after the androgens are gone. But prostate cancer does not disappear completely. Instead, it slowly gets used to the “harsh” environment without nutrients and continues to grow. At this stage of prostate cancer development, androgen removal therapy has lost its effect. At this point, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and Chinese herbal medicine can be chosen to relieve the symptoms of prostate cancer patients. It is worth mentioning that for those very early stage tumors, if the patient is already very old and has a relatively short life expectancy, there is no need for the patient to receive active treatment when the tumor symptoms are not very obvious, but simply regular follow-up. In this way, there is no need to worry about delaying the timing of treatment, and at the same time, it can reduce the financial burden of patients and avoid the toxic side effects of drugs.
