What should I do if I have a traumatic hand injury?

Many patients will say at the time of the visit that it would have been better if the injury had been seen then and so on. But please note that this is the wrong view and unrealistic. Because it is an emergency when you have a traumatic hand injury, you are unlikely to have time to consult the internet to pick a doctor. Instead, the critical first step in hand trauma is to clear the wound as soon as possible. Creation is a basic skill for hand surgeons, and most specialists and non-specialists are capable of doing it. Then comes reconstruction, that is, what is broken and what is connected! This is more critical. It must be a specialist to be able to. Because the first thing about reconstruction is to determine what is broken, and then how to connect. Non-hand surgeons are often lacking in this area. Especially the nerve repair is a delicate job. Therefore, a practical approach for patients is to do the local debridement first, which can effectively reduce the probability of infection. If you feel that the repair ability of the hospital you visit is problematic, you can tell them not to repair it (if it is necessary to connect the vessel, you can only do it at the hospital you visit, because tendon and nerve repair can be done a few days later, but not the vessel), and then go directly to the hospital you trust to repair it. Generally tendon and nerve rupture about 1 week to repair are no problem. Of course, if the hospital you trust, then do it immediately! Remember: the first repair after a hand trauma is crucial to the final outcome.
