How long does it take to recover from cataract incision surgery

The cataract incision is usually a small incision of 2-3 mm, through which the cloudy lens can be broken up and sucked out, and a folded clear IOL can be placed through the small incision. The incision may be watertight after surgery, and the incision will heal on its own in about 1 week without stitches or removal of stitches. However, postoperative anti-inflammatory and anti-edema medications, such as Levofloxacin or Demerol drops, may be required to prevent infection and eliminate edema. It is also important to keep the eyes out of water for 1 week after surgery to avoid infection. Therefore, the incision is small and not easily infected, but care should be taken to avoid infection, and the healing process will resume in about 1 week.
