Why do diabetic toes have black pus and ulcers?

Diabetic foot patients with blackened toes and runny ulcers are common symptoms of diabetic foot, and many patients develop this symptom, and more serious ones even suggest amputation or suggest transfer to a higher level hospital. Otherwise, it can be life-threatening. So the question is, why do diabetic patients have black toes and runny ulcers? Diabetic foot is an ischemic, neurological and neuroischemic lesion of the foot caused by diabetes, which can lead to different degrees of infection, ulceration and gangrene in the foot, and is one of the common complications of diabetes. There are two main causes of diabetic foot toe blackness and pus ulceration: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy Once diabetic foot patients have diabetic peripheral neuropathy will lead to reduced or absent sensation in the limbs, so that the foot for pressure, foreign body or hot and cold sensation is reduced, so it is easy to lead to trauma, burns to form ulcers. For example, damage to the motor nerve can affect the muscles of the foot, causing muscle atrophy and leading to foot deformity; impaired autonomic nerve function leads to decreased sweat secretion function of the skin, making the skin dry and prone to induce bacterial infection, which can also cause black toes and pus. Diabetic vasculopathy The occurrence of diabetic vasculopathy in diabetic foot patients can lead to reduced blood flow to the lower limbs, resulting in lack of oxygen and nutrient supply to the foot, so the lower limb temperature decreases, pain, intermittent claudication, ischemia, and in severe cases, ulceration and gangrene. In addition, patients with diabetic foot may also have cardiovascular and digestive system symptoms Cardiovascular system mainly manifests as resting tachycardia and postural hypotension. In the early stage, there may be no obvious symptoms, but the disease may progress to palpitations, mild headache when standing, visual impairment, syncope, etc. The digestive system may manifest as esophageal peristalsis, increased gastric emptying time, constipation, diarrhea or alternating diarrhea and constipation, and even urinary and fecal incontinence.
