Nasal congestion and runny nose are common symptoms of the common cold and are not necessarily caused by novel coronavirus infection. Although novel coronavirus infection can also cause symptoms of nasal congestion and runny nose, the symptoms are atypical and rare, and the typical symptoms of novel coronavirus infection are fever, malaise and dry cough. In addition to symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose and fever, the diagnosis of novel coronavirus usually requires a history of travel to infected areas or contact with high-risk individuals, routine blood tests, normal or reduced total white blood cells, reduced lymphocyte count and chest radiographs with imaging features of pneumonia, etc. If necessary, specimens are taken for nucleic acid testing of novel coronavirus, and if positive, the diagnosis can be confirmed.
