How long can you live with pancreatic cancer?

This is a concern for many patients and families, and it is very important to choose the right treatment and actively cooperate with professional medical treatment. The only curable treatment for pancreatic cancer is surgical resection. Usually, unless it is advanced, doctors will recommend surgical resection. It has been reported that the average survival time of pancreatic cancer is less than 6 months, and the 5-year survival rate is less than 5%. Many patients and their families are worried that even if the surgery is removed, it will not prolong the survival period. So how long can we live with pancreatic cancer? In general, surgery is recommended for early and mid-stage pancreatic cancer, and the success rate of radical pancreatic cancer surgery is high under current medical conditions. Post-operative adjuvant treatment is also very important. The survival period of pancreatic cancer needs to be determined by a combination of various aspects such as the disease (e.g. type and stage, etc.), the patient’s physical condition, and the recovery from surgery. The key factor leading to death after radical pancreatic cancer surgery is the development of recurrence or metastasis within a short period of time, so regular follow-up should be performed after surgery.
