Measles is a category B infectious disease, mainly caused by measles virus infection. The incubation period is usually about 10 days, and typical measles can be divided into the prodromal phase, the rash phase, and the recovery phase. Patients in the prodromal phase may present with a runny nose, conjunctival congestion, lacrimation, photophobia, and mental malaise that lasts for about 1-2 days. Some patients may develop measles mucosal spots, which are specific to measles. During the rash phase, about 3-5 days after the onset of the disease, systemic and respiratory symptoms increase, body temperature can reach 40°C, depression, drowsiness, anorexia, and a rash can appear from behind the ears, rapidly progressing to the face and neck, waist and back, and extremities, until a rash appears all over the body. After the recovery period, the rash will be complete and will recede in the order of its appearance, leaving a coffee-colored pigmented spot.
