Measles vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine. Currently, active immunization against measles is mainly given to infants and children, but children and adults who have not had measles can also be vaccinated against measles. The age of initial measles vaccination in developed countries is mostly set at 15 months, while in our country, due to the continued prevalence of measles, the age of initial vaccination is 8 months, and the dose is the same for children and adults. Newborns receive specific antibodies from their mothers, and the half-life of immunity is about 3 weeks, after which they become susceptible to the measles virus. Therefore, weak, pregnant women and young susceptible individuals should be passively immunized immediately after contact with measles patients by injecting human gammaglobulin within 5 days of contact with the patient to prevent the onset of the disease; if injected after 5 days, only typical symptoms can be observed.
